The inaugural post in the Pistons’ corner of this blog will be about:  The Shock.  Last night the Shock took on the Los Angeles Sparks at the Palace of Auburn Hills.  The game ended with a bit of a brawl which included the Shock’s Plenette Pierson buttering the beans of Spark Candace Parker, then serving them to her cold, Detroiter Cheryl Ford busting up her knee playing peacemaker, and Shock assissant coach/Bad Boy Rick Mahorn in a scrum the left Lisa Leslie on the Palace floor.  Here’s video and better writing at With Leather

What does it all mean?  I’d be interested to see how the coverage of the throwdown would be handled if it weren’t the Bad Boy Bill Laimbeer and Mahorn coached Shock and if it hadn’t happened at the Palace.  Of course, all the national mouthpieces will bring up the epic “Malice at the Palace” from a few years ago and find every reason they can to bash Detroit, even though one brawl has nothing to do with the other.  Am I being biased?  Really?  Oh, well, whatever.  This was just a fight, it happens in sports pretty regualarly.  It was just a fight.

Oh, and I think the Sparks won the game.
